Actor Finn Wolfhard, known for his role as Mike Wheeler in “Stranger Things,” has discussed his potential return to the “IT” franchise and his experience of rising to fame at a young age. Wolfhard, who portrayed Richie Tozier in the 2017 film “It” and its 2019 sequel “It: Chapter Two,” hinted at a future involvement in the “IT” universe following the completion of the first season of the spin-off series “IT: Welcome to Derry.”
Wolfhard shared that he was informed years ago about the inclusion of Richie’s picture in “Welcome to Derry,” indicating his connection to the show’s creators’ plans. Reflecting on his journey to stardom as a teenager, Wolfhard described it as an exciting yet challenging experience, highlighting the difficulties of growing up in the limelight.
Based on Stephen King’s 1986 horror novel, “IT” revolves around a group of bullied kids, the Losers’ Club, in Derry, who unite to confront a malevolent, shape-shifting entity that preys on their fears. Alongside Wolfhard, the “IT” cast includes Sophia Lillis, Chosen Jacobs, Jaeden Martell, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, and Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise the Dancing Clown.
Expanding beyond the two movies, the “IT” franchise introduced the prequel series “IT: Welcome to Derry,” delving into the origins of Pennywise and the cursed history of Derry, offering fans a deeper insight into the sinister world created by Stephen King.
