An FIR has been registered against Yunus Tamuli, the leader of ‘Bagh Sena’, at the Sivasagar Sadar Police Station in Assam for making derogatory remarks about women on social media. The complaint, filed by Jagriti Nari Samaj, accused Tamuli of posting offensive comments on Facebook that insulted women’s dignity. The post, containing objectionable language, has sparked widespread outrage.
Condemning the remarks, Jagriti Nari Samaj has demanded Tamuli’s immediate arrest and urged the police to take strict legal action against him. The organization has threatened a statewide protest if prompt action is not taken against the accused. They claim that the social media post has not only hurt women’s sentiments but also has the potential to create social unrest.
Police officials have confirmed the registration of the FIR at the Sivasagar Sadar Police Station and mentioned that the matter is currently under investigation. As of now, no arrests have been made. Yunus Tamuli has gained prominence as the face of ‘Bagh Sena’, a group known for supporting certain sections of the Bengali-speaking Muslim community in Assam.
