A fire occurred in a multi-storey building in Delhi’s Greater Kailash Part 1 Enclave, with officials confirming no casualties. The fire, suspected to have started due to an AC short circuit, took place at the D24 building in GK-1 Enclave. The Delhi Fire Service received the fire alert at 11:36 a.m. and dispatched two fire tenders promptly to the scene.
After diligent efforts, the fire was successfully brought under control, and all individuals were safely evacuated. An official stated that no casualties were recorded during the incident. Investigations are currently ongoing to determine the cause of the blaze. Following a recent tragic fire at a B&B in Malviya Nagar, which resulted in 22 fatalities, including 13 foreigners, and numerous injuries, the police have taken legal action under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The hotel’s owner, Lavkesh Bajaj, and cook, Keshav Negi, have been arrested, while the hotel’s manager, Jai Mishra, surrendered in court. It has been revealed that the hotel was operating with permission for six rooms but was functioning with over 20 rooms. Additionally, the hotel had been in operation for several years without obtaining a mandatory No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Delhi Fire Service. Investigations into the tragic incident are ongoing, with more details awaited.
Authorities in Delhi have launched a comprehensive crackdown on safety violations throughout the city. Forensic examinations are in progress, with investigators collecting evidence. The focus remains on determining whether negligence, regulatory breaches, or other factors contributed to the fatal fire.
