The inaugural edition of the Shooting League of Maharashtra (SLM) concluded with Sobo Giants emerging as the champions after a closely contested Mixed Team final. Sobo Giants secured a 17-7 victory over Palghar Golden Finger, while Aamhi Punekar claimed the third spot by defeating Sangli Alpha Lions 16-14.
This event signifies a significant step in the development of the Shooting League of India (SLI), providing a structured competitive platform for the sport. Maharashtra now hosts the second state-level shooting league in India, following the successful launch of the Shooting League of Karnataka earlier this year, setting the stage for a more organized sporting ecosystem nationwide.
The state-level leagues play a crucial role in the broader vision of the Shooting League of India, aiming to increase the sport’s visibility and attract a larger audience. By fostering accessibility and engagement, these leagues aim to popularize shooting among a wider demographic, uniting both emerging talents and established shooters from various cities in Maharashtra.
The SLM showcased a blend of competition and entertainment, offering a platform to showcase talent and inspire future aspirations in the sport. Notable figures in Indian shooting, including former Olympians Anjali Bhagwat and Deepali Deshpande, lauded the league’s format for nurturing talent and preparing shooters for high-pressure scenarios, ultimately contributing to the growth of the sport.
