The mortal remains of 15 Indian nationals who tragically died in a boat accident near Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam have been flown to Mumbai. The Indian Embassy in Vietnam confirmed the arrival of the flight carrying the deceased. Efforts are underway to ensure the swift delivery of the remains to the families of the victims by coordinating with the state governments of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu.
The Indian national who survived the boat accident in Phu Quoc underwent a successful medical procedure on Sunday. He has been transferred to a hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, where his family members have also arrived. Meanwhile, Vietnamese authorities have detained and initiated legal proceedings against a local man, 57-year-old captain Nguyen Hong Hai, for alleged violations related to the capsized tourist boat.
Preliminary reports indicate that the boat, carrying approximately 32 Indian tourists, capsized south of Phu Quoc. Most of the passengers were from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Kerala. Following the incident, a rescue operation was promptly launched by rescue teams, local residents, and emergency services to assist those affected.
