Flight operations from the Middle East to India are on the rise, with more flights expected from the region. Around 80 flights were anticipated from various UAE airports, with airlines running a limited number of non-scheduled flights. Flights are also continuing from Saudi Arabia and Oman to India, while Qatar’s airspace is partially open with several non-scheduled flights expected.
Special flights by Jazeera Airways and Gulf Air are operating through Dammam, Saudi Arabia, to India. Indian citizens returning from Iran are facilitated via Armenia and Azerbaijan, and those from Israel are assisted through Jordan. However, Kuwait and Bahrain’s airspace remains closed, with Indian citizens being aided via Saudi Arabia for their return.
A significant number of passengers, totaling around 4,50,000, have returned to India since February 28. The Ministry of External Affairs is closely monitoring the situation in the Gulf and West Asia region, prioritizing the safety, security, and welfare of the Indian community. Indian missions and posts are actively issuing advisories, maintaining contact with community organizations, and providing assistance to various groups.
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways is closely monitoring shipping activities, port operations, and the safety of Indian seafarers. Over 674 Indian seafarers have been safely repatriated so far, with continuous monitoring of Indian-flagged vessels in the western Persian Gulf. Port operations across India are functioning normally without congestion, with coordination efforts ongoing to ensure seafarer welfare and uninterrupted operations.
