More than 2,000 families in Surat’s Bhatar area are getting financial help after heavy rains and flooding. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi gave Rs 6,800 per family to residents of Ambedkar Nagar, Azad Nagar, Indira Nagar, and Rasulabad. The aid includes cash, household items, and clothing for those affected by the floods.
Relief operations started promptly after the floods receded. Officials did surveys to find affected households and quickly provide assistance. District Collector Tejas Parmar and Surat Municipal Commissioner M. Nagarajan oversaw the distribution.
Sanghavi encouraged cleanliness and full cooperation during the surveys. He promised that every eligible family would get help. The government aims to support families not just financially but also in their recovery and return to normal life.
District Collector Tejas Parmar instructed immediate surveys of affected areas after heavy rainfall. The administration, led by South Sub-Divisional Magistrate V.J. Bhandari, surveyed Majura area households and began giving Rs 6,800 per family. The assistance includes household support and daily wage aid under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act.
Over 2,500 families in Surat city have received financial relief under Bhandari’s supervision. The government is committed to assisting flood-affected families throughout their rehabilitation process.
