A former parcel supervisor at Agra Fort Railway Station, Rajneesh Chahar, has been sentenced to four years in prison for a bribery case dating back to 2016. Chahar, who was the Chief Parcel Supervisor at the station, demanded a bribe for smooth loading-unloading operations on the Awadh Express. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) caught him red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000. Charges were filed against him in early 2016, leading to his recent sentencing.
In a separate case, a Special CBI Court in Lucknow sentenced three individuals, including a senior government official, to five years in prison for corruption related to the Sampurna Grameen Rozgar Yojna (SGRY). The convicted individuals were involved in financial irregularities amounting to over Rs 1 crore. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 77,000 on the three offenders. The verdict was reached after a thorough trial examining the mismanagement of the rural employment scheme.
