Former AIADMK Ministers Dr C. Vijayabaskar and M.R. Vijayabhaskar, along with around 15,000 supporters and party members, will be joining the ruling Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) in a significant political move. The induction ceremony is scheduled to take place at a private hotel in Mamallapuram, near Chennai. Senior TVK ministers N. Anand and Adhav Arjuna will officially welcome the new members into the party.
The event is anticipated to witness the addition of several notable former AIADMK leaders, including former Minister S. Valarmathi from Tiruchirappalli and former Minister M.S.M. Anandan from Tiruppur. Additionally, former MLAs and district-level leaders, such as Manraj, M. Ramkumar, and P.K. Vairamuthu, are also set to join TVK. The joining members reportedly include 208 former AIADMK union secretaries.
Organizers have revealed that approximately 15,000 party supporters and functionaries from various districts of Tamil Nadu, including Karur and Pudukottai, have gathered for the event. They arrived at the venue in nearly 200 buses and over 600 cars, underscoring the magnitude of this political transition.
In a joint statement issued prior to their induction, Dr C. Vijayabaskar and M.R. Vijayabhaskar expressed their longstanding loyalty to the AIADMK and their disappointment with the party leadership. They highlighted their unsuccessful attempts to form an electoral alliance with TVK before the Assembly elections and criticized the AIADMK’s alleged alignment with the DMK. The former legislators stated that they were joining TVK with the hope of a fresh political direction and continued service to the people of Tamil Nadu.
