Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has criticized Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for allegedly neglecting the case of Sugali Preeti, a 10th-grade student who was raped and murdered at a private school in Kurnool in 2017.
Reddy stated that the negligence of Naidu’s government in the Sugali Preeti case is causing immense distress to her parents. Despite the tragic incident in 2017, the previous government failed to identify and punish the perpetrators.
After assuming power, Reddy’s government formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case further, provided support to the victim’s family, and initiated a CBI investigation at their request. However, Reddy claimed that under Naidu’s administration, the case has been sidelined, with the CBI citing resource constraints.
Expressing solidarity with the grieving parents, Reddy vowed to support them legally until justice is served for Sugali Preeti. The victim’s parents, Parvathi and Raju Naik, met Reddy seeking justice for their daughter’s brutal assault and criticized the current government for its alleged indifference.
