Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot raised concerns over Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma’s recent comments regarding alleged OMR sheet tampering. Gehlot criticized Sharma for potentially influencing the ongoing investigation by the Special Operations Group (SOG) with premature statements. He questioned the basis of Sharma’s claims that irregularities were limited to a specific period, despite indications of tampering over an 11-year span.
Gehlot highlighted the need for a comprehensive investigation, emphasizing that restricting inquiries to a single tenure could be illogical if accused individuals held positions across different administrations. He cautioned against political figures prematurely absolving the government, as this could undermine the probe’s credibility and raise doubts among the public, especially the youth.
Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully echoed Gehlot’s concerns, accusing the Chief Minister of attempting to sway the investigation with his remarks. Jully questioned the rationale behind absolving individuals accused of misconduct during specific periods and emphasized the importance of an impartial probe that covers all relevant time frames to uncover the truth.
Chief Minister Sharma had accused Gehlot and the Congress of concealing OMR sheet tampering, alleging a delay in addressing the issue. Sharma vowed to pursue all involved in the tampering incidents, asserting the government’s commitment to upholding accountability and taking action against wrongdoers. The recent arrests made by the SOG in connection with OMR sheet manipulation have sparked calls for a thorough examination of all relevant examinations during the period in question.
