Former Indian cricketer and national selector Jatin Paranjape has expressed confidence in seam-bowling all-rounder Suryansh Shedge’s potential for a successful international career. Shedge recently received his first call-up to the Indian T20I squad for the tours of Ireland and England, stepping in for the injured Nitish Kumar Reddy.
Paranjape highlighted Shedge’s suitability for T20 cricket and emphasized the need for him to adapt quickly to the higher intensity of international matches compared to the IPL. He praised Shedge’s talent and mental strength, foreseeing a decade-long career for him in the Indian team.
Shedge, known for his clean hitting and medium-pace bowling, showcased impressive performances in recent outings. His success in the IPL and the India A tri-series in Sri Lanka has drawn attention to his potential as an all-rounder. Paranjape, who has been mentoring Shedge, noted the significance of the timing and conditions of his maiden India call-up for his development.
Paranjape’s coaching approach with Shedge has focused on refining his skills rather than making drastic changes. He emphasized the importance of simplicity in handling pressure situations, drawing from his own experiences to guide the young cricketer. With Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill leading the T20I and ODI teams respectively, Paranjape expressed confidence in Shedge’s prospects under their captaincy.
