The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is set to present former judge Giribala Singh in court on Friday following her arrest in connection with the alleged dowry death of her daughter-in-law, Twisha Sharma. Giribala Singh underwent a medical examination at the Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) campus in Bhopal after being taken there by the CBI. The examination was conducted at a special medical camp with approval from the Madhya Pradesh Police.
Giribala Singh’s arrest came after the Madhya Pradesh High Court revoked her anticipatory bail in the case. Prior to the medical examination, the CBI interrogated her for nearly seven hours at her residence in Bhopal. The CBI team, accompanied by a significant police presence, arrived at her residence in the Katara Hills area on Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, CBI officials also visited the residence of Principal District Judge (Bhopal) Manoj Kumar Srivastava to inform him formally about Giribala Singh’s arrest. The officials were seen carrying arrest-related documents during their visit. This development followed the cancellation of Giribala Singh’s interim bail by the Madhya Pradesh High Court, which had been granted by a Bhopal district court earlier.
The High Court’s 17-page order highlighted WhatsApp chats and statements from Twisha’s family, indicating that the allegations extended beyond her husband. It also mentioned allegations of pressure on Twisha to terminate her pregnancy, noting that the termination was confirmed in the case. Twisha Sharma was discovered dead at her matrimonial home on May 12, almost five months after marrying Samarth Singh on December 9, 2025. Samarth Singh, Twisha’s husband, was arrested on May 22 and placed in CBI custody on Wednesday.
