Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh addressed the political backlash over his recent social media post praising the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Singh affirmed his unwavering commitment to the Nehru-Gandhi ideology and stated that he would continue to uphold it as long as he is in politics.
Singh emphasized his allegiance to the Nehru-Gandhi family and their principles, declaring that he would never waver in his support. He reiterated his dedication to standing for social harmony and the core beliefs of the Congress party throughout his political career.
In response to the controversy sparked by his post lauding the RSS-BJP ecosystem, Singh clarified that his comments were focused on acknowledging the organizational strength of the RSS and BJP. He distanced himself from endorsing their political ideologies and reaffirmed his opposition to the RSS and Prime Minister Modi.
The social media post, featuring an old picture of PM Modi with veteran BJP leader L.K. Advani, drew criticism from within the Congress party. Congress leader Pawan Khera sharply rebuked Singh, highlighting the contrasting ideologies of Mahatma Gandhi’s organization and the RSS.
Veteran BJP leader Narottam Mishra expressed surprise at Singh’s praise for the RSS-BJP, suggesting that Singh’s actions may be influenced by his political ambitions. Mishra hinted at Singh’s past role in causing upheaval within the Congress-led government in Madhya Pradesh, alluding to the events of 2020.
