Former Minister and BJP MP Kota Srinivas Poojary has supported the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Karnataka, emphasizing its aim to ensure only genuine Indian citizens can vote. Poojary criticized the Congress for politicizing the SIR process, urging them to back the initiative instead of spreading misinformation.
He highlighted that the SIR aims to prevent illegal residents and non-genuine Indian voters from casting votes, while providing genuine citizens with the voting opportunity. Poojary mentioned that individuals without proper documentation would receive notices to prove their Indian citizenship.
Poojary urged the Congress to collaborate in executing the SIR process rather than opposing it. He also criticized the Karnataka government’s decision to withdraw specific criminal cases, alleging it would favor ‘anti-social’ and ‘anti-Hindu’ elements.
In response to Congress’ criticism of the recent hike in petroleum prices, Poojary accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of constantly targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Centre. He attributed the global fuel price surge to ongoing conflicts and international developments, stating that the Union government is ensuring a stable fuel supply for Indian citizens through effective control measures.
