Former Prime Minister and JD-S Rajya Sabha member H.D. Deve Gowda revealed that the Karnataka government has filed a writ petition regarding the Bengaluru–Mysuru Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project in the Supreme Court. Deve Gowda expressed his discontent at being dragged into the case along with the state government and some farmers.

At a press conference in Bengaluru, Deve Gowda highlighted his frustration at having to engage in legal battles at his age, mentioning the financial burden of paying lawyers’ fees. He emphasized that during his tenure as Chief Minister of Karnataka, the BMIC project had received approval from the Finance Department, with an MoU signed at that time.

Deve Gowda pointed out that the BMIC project encompassed four districts, including Bengaluru city, Mandya, and Mysuru, involving the development of five townships and concrete roads. Despite the involvement of the state Government’s Advocate General and legal advisors, additional legal consultants have been appointed for matters related to the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE) company.

The former Prime Minister reiterated his determination to continue the legal fight, criticizing the state Government’s approach of blaming the Central government for various issues. Deve Gowda also highlighted the upcoming joint session of Parliament and announced plans for party conventions in the Hassan and Bagalkote regions to address the failures of the current state government.
