Former Rajya Sabha MP of Shiv Sena (UBT), Priyanka Chaturvedi, expressed frustration on social media after misinterpreting an invitation from NDMC regarding Jor Bagh Colony in Delhi. She mistakenly believed the colony was being renamed as “Anupam Colony,” leading to a swift clarification from NDMC V-C Kuljeet Singh Chahal.
Chaturvedi’s social media post, reacting to the NDMC invite for an event declaring Jor Bagh as Anupam Colony, sparked a response from Chahal. He clarified that the initiative was not about renaming Jor Bagh but recognizing it as an official “Anupam Colony” for achieving high standards of zero-waste and sustainable living.
Chahal emphasized that the event scheduled for the next day aimed to officially designate Jor Bagh as Anupam Colony, highlighting its waste management and sustainability practices. The Anupam Colony certification signifies excellence in waste segregation, on-site waste processing, and eco-friendly practices, without altering the original name of the colony.
Chahal reiterated that the name “Jor Bagh” remains unchanged, with “Anupam” serving solely as a certification tag. The NDMC’s Anupam Colony initiative recognizes neighborhoods like Jor Bagh for their exemplary zero-waste and eco-friendly efforts, promoting sustainability and cleanliness.
