Former South African cricketer Justin Kemp has been appointed as the new Director of Cricket for Cricket Namibia. Kemp, who represented South Africa in four Tests, 85 ODIs, and eight T20Is between 2001 and 2007, will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of cricket operations in Namibia. This includes managing national teams, high-performance programs, talent identification structures, coach development pathways, and promoting the growth of the sport in the country.
Kemp, who previously served as the assistant coach for Western Province in South Africa in 2024, joined Namibia’s coaching staff last year. He also played for the Chennai Super Kings during their title-winning Indian Premier League (IPL) season in 2010. Additionally, Kemp was part of the coaching staff for Namibia during the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, as well as in leagues like the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Cricket Namibia stated that Kemp’s appointment aligns with their vision of establishing Namibia as a competitive cricketing nation on the global stage. They highlighted Kemp’s international playing experience and exposure to high-performance environments as valuable assets that will help strengthen the country’s cricketing systems. The organization aims to create sustainable pathways for players, from grassroots participation to achieving international success, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance cricket in Namibia.
