At least four individuals lost their lives, and 12 others suffered severe injuries in a tragic road accident on National Highway-30 in Maihar district. The incident occurred near Tiloura village under the Nadan police station area involving a passenger vehicle from Padariya village in Katni district colliding with a container truck. Although the collision was not head-on, the impact was significant, leading to chaos at the scene.

Three occupants of the vehicle tragically died on the spot, while 12 others sustained injuries of varying degrees. Among the deceased were Chhonga Patel (60) from NKJ Padariya, Jitendra Payasi (24), Santlal Patel, and an unidentified individual. The injured individuals, including Jagdish Patel, Ram Sahay Patel, Ram Pratap Patel, and others, have been taken for medical treatment.

The condition of five injured persons remains critical, prompting concerns of a potential rise in the death toll. Most of the injured have been referred to Katni for advanced medical care. The victims, part of the Patel family, were en route to Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh for a sacred Hindu ritual.

Police have initiated an investigation into the accident, considering factors such as speeding, visibility, and mechanical failure. Preliminary findings indicate that excessive speed may have contributed to the tragic incident.
