Four individuals, including three students and a teacher, lost their lives, and 20 others sustained injuries during a tragic shooting incident at Ayser Calik Middle School in Kahramanmaras, Turkey. The perpetrator, identified as an eighth-grade student, entered two classrooms with weapons in his backpack and opened fire, leading to the casualties. Governor Mukerrem Unluer confirmed the attacker’s identity and the ongoing investigation into the matter.

The incident in Kahramanmaras occurred a day after another shooting incident in Siverek, where a former student injured 16 individuals, including students. Governor Unluer revealed that the attacker, a student at the school, had brought multiple firearms and ammunition, resulting in the devastating outcome. The assailant’s father has been apprehended, and investigations are underway to understand the circumstances leading to the tragedy.

Turkey’s Justice Minister Akin Gurlek announced that the Chief Public Prosecutor’s office in Kahramanmaraş has launched a thorough investigation into the school shooting. Gurlek emphasized the importance of preserving the integrity of the investigation and urged media organizations to handle the information sensitively. The tragic events have sparked concerns over school safety and the need for preventive measures to avoid such incidents in the future.
