Four laborers, including three women, tragically lost their lives in Aloli village, Rajasthan’s Bhilwara district, after mistakenly drinking acid, thinking it was alcohol. The victims, hired for cleaning duties at a wedding venue, unknowingly ingested the acid stored in bottles for cleaning purposes. This mix-up led to the fatal incident.

The deceased individuals have been identified as Badami (60), Jamni (60), Ratan (42), and Sushila (40). Another laborer, Sanu (22), who also consumed the acid, is currently in critical condition and receiving medical treatment. The victims’ health rapidly deteriorated after consuming the substance, with three succumbing to the effects at Gangapur Hospital.

Prompt medical attention was provided, but unfortunately, two more individuals lost their lives during treatment in Bhilwara. The incident caused panic at the wedding venue as the laborers fell ill suddenly, alarming family members, guests, and staff present. Authorities were alerted, leading to a police investigation into the storage of the acid on-site.

Initial findings suggest that the workers mistakenly believed the liquid to be alcohol, prompting questions about safety measures and storage practices. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations, and a thorough investigation is ongoing. Event organizers and contractors are advised to adhere strictly to safety protocols and ensure hazardous substances are kept away from workers and guests.
