Four youths tragically drowned in the Yamuna River in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district on Sunday, with two others rescued in critical condition. The incident occurred in Kunuwa Ka Dera village under the Lalauli police station area when six youths were swept away into deep water while bathing. Upon receiving information about the drowning around 1:30 p.m., police teams and local divers promptly initiated a rescue operation.
Additional Superintendent of Police Gyan Prakash Rai reported that the six youths, aged between 18 and 20 years, drowned while bathing in the river. The deceased were identified as Haseebuddin, Shahid, Ansh, and Shan, all residents of Tapni village. Unfortunately, the four individuals died on the spot due to drowning.
The two remaining youths were rescued from the river by local divers and villagers and are currently in critical condition at a nearby hospital. Authorities have taken custody of the deceased bodies for post-mortem examination. The tragic incident has deeply affected Tapni village, where families and residents gathered in large numbers to mourn the loss. Local authorities are conducting further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police officials have urged the public to exercise caution when entering rivers and water bodies due to the unpredictable water levels and currents.
