French President Emmanuel Macron has confirmed his visit to India for the AI Impact Summit scheduled for February. He made this announcement while addressing the Diplomatic Corps and highlighted the successes of French diplomacy in 2025. Macron mentioned the progress made during the Artificial Intelligence summit co-chaired with Prime Minister Modi and expressed his upcoming visit to India for further discussions.
India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, in a meeting with French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot, also indicated President Macron’s imminent visit to India. Both countries are actively engaged in the international arena, emphasizing the importance of their collaboration for global stability and multipolarity. The strategic partnership between India and France spans various sectors such as defence, space, civil nuclear cooperation, clean energy, and the Indo-Pacific region.
The India-AI Impact Summit 2026, announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the France AI Action Summit, is set to take place on February 19-20 in New Delhi. This summit, the first of its kind in the Global South, aims to bring together global stakeholders to discuss artificial intelligence’s impact on society. Prime Minister Modi recently interacted with Indian AI startups, encouraging them to develop ethical, transparent, and privacy-focused AI models to lead in the global AI landscape.
