Getafe has bolstered their team for the upcoming 2026/27 La Liga season by acquiring right-back Andrés García from Aston Villa. García, a 23-year-old Spaniard, joins the club on loan after featuring in 18 matches for Villa since his move from Levante in January 2025.
The signing of García aims to fill the void left by Juan Iglesias, who departed on a free transfer to Sevilla at the end of June. Getafe’s official website lauded García as a versatile full-back known for his attacking prowess, defensive solidity, and aerial ability.
Despite narrowly missing out on European qualification last season, Getafe has faced significant player departures this summer, including key figures like Luis Milla, Mauro Arambarri, Domingos Duarte, and Iglesias. García notably made his senior debut for Levante against Getafe in January 2023.
Aston Villa confirmed García’s loan move to Getafe, highlighting his contributions with eight appearances across all competitions last season. The young talent, a product of Levante’s youth academy, also represented Spain’s Under-21 team at the 2025 European Championship.
Getafe recently secured manager Jose Bordalas on a new two-year contract, extending his tenure until June 2028. Bordalas, instrumental in Getafe’s European qualification last season, is praised by the club as a key figure in its recent history, having steered the team to a commendable seventh-place finish in La Liga.
