In Begusarai, Bihar, the Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) apprehended a government employee, Pushkar Kumar, for reportedly taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 for license renewal related to weights and measures. Kumar, a clerk at the Weights and Measures Department, was caught red-handed accepting the illegal gratification. The arrest followed a complaint and a well-executed trap by the vigilance team.
A formal case (Case No. 62/26) has been registered at Vigilance Police Station, Patna, in connection with the incident. Currently, investigators are interrogating the accused to gather more information. Authorities are also exploring potential links to a broader corruption network within the government offices.
This anti-corruption action is part of Bihar government’s intensified efforts to combat corruption. The Vigilance Investigation Bureau emphasized that stringent measures against bribery and misconduct in public service will persist, ensuring accountability among government employees. Similar arrests of officials involved in bribery, like Akash Kumar Rauniar and Satish Kumar, have recently taken place in the region.
