The government disclosed that 352 infrastructure projects, valued at Rs 16.10 lakh crore, have undergone assessment through the Network Planning Group (NPG) mechanism. Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Jitin Prasada, informed the Lok Sabha that out of these projects, 201 have received approval, with 167 currently in progress. The NPG, operating under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (PMGS-NMP) framework, ensures comprehensive planning and development for critical infrastructure projects of the Central Government.
The Finance Ministry’s Department of Expenditure has allocated Rs 5,000 crore as interest-free loans to states for infrastructure development. Monitoring of Central Sector Projects, including those under the PM Gati Shakti framework, costing Rs 150 crore and above, is overseen by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI). Additionally, the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) has been established to expedite issue resolution and progress tracking for large-scale infrastructure projects.
The PMG has introduced a five-tier escalation framework to address issues promptly, starting from the Ministry level and escalating to the PRAGATI forum for complex matters. This structured approach enhances the review process, minimizes duplication, and enables senior officials to focus on critical concerns. Integration of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan with the PMG has facilitated the swift resolution of project-related challenges and regulatory hurdles, ensuring timely project completion.
