The Ministry of Commerce & Industry unveiled a revamped website and bilingual mobile app for the Department of Commerce. This initiative aims to provide a unified platform for exporters, importers, and trade stakeholders to access trade-related information and government services. The new platform complies with the Digital Brand Identity Manual (DBIM) 3.0 and Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW), supporting content in 22 Indian languages through the Bhashini API.
The website and mobile app, available on Android and iOS, offer offline access and GPS-enabled features for convenient trade information retrieval without continuous internet connectivity. Maintenance provisions include security, scalability, and continuous enhancement for both platforms. Noteworthy features include a structured three-level navigation menu, real-time content updates, and customizable display settings for font size, color theme, and language preferences.
Furthermore, the platform integrates with the Trade Intelligence and Analytics (TIA) Portal to provide real-time trade data on Territorial and Commodity Division pages. It also automates updates of parliamentary questions and answers related to the Department of Commerce through a Parliament Portal integration, eliminating manual uploads. Additionally, the platform links to CPGRAMS for streamlined complaint filing and tracking.
In a bid to enhance digital presence, the platform integrates social media accounts across various platforms like X, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram. This launch aligns with India’s e-governance initiatives, focusing on enhancing transparency, efficiency, and ease of doing business in foreign trade.
