The government has introduced the Swasth Bharat Portal to merge various national health program applications into a single interoperable platform. This platform, designed as an API-based aggregator, aims to eliminate fragmented datasets, duplication of efforts, and enhance resource utilization. By enabling interoperability and convergence, it streamlines the digital landscape across health programs.
Envisioned as a unified digital layer, the Swasth Bharat Portal consolidates multiple national health programs onto a single interface. This integration eliminates the need for multiple logins and repetitive data entry, ultimately boosting efficiency at all operational levels. Frontline health workers in India, including ASHAs, ANMs, CHOs, and MOs, will benefit from reduced administrative burdens and improved access to data visualization tools.
The newly launched portal, compliant with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, facilitates seamless exchange of patient health records through integration with the Ayushman Bharat Health Account. It is poised to evolve into a comprehensive digital health ecosystem, integrating with national registries like the Healthcare Professionals Registry and Health Facility Registry. Efficiency gains are expected to lead to infrastructure savings, reduced data entry, and minimized human-resource duplication.
Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda unveiled the Swasth Bharat Portal during the 10th National Summit on Innovation and Inclusivity. The system’s federated architecture via APIs ensures high interoperability, enhancing decision-making speed and reducing redundant hosting, storage, and compute resources. This transformative step towards convergence and data-driven governance in India’s public health system marks a significant milestone.
