Following the West Bengal Assembly polls, Governor R.N. Ravi appointed State Transport Secretary Soumitra Mohan as his new secretary. Mohan, a 2002-batch IAS officer, had been serving as the Transport Secretary for over three years. This transfer occurred immediately after the voting concluded.
Governor Ravi, who assumed office on March 12, requested the appointment of a secretary within a week of his tenure. However, this was delayed due to the election notification issued post his appointment. Previously, IAS Nandini Chakraborty served as the Secretary to the Governor when C.V. Anand Bose held the position. However, she was later removed and reassigned to different roles within the state administration.
In a significant move, after almost three years, a bureaucrat has been appointed as the Governor’s Secretary. Governor R.N. Ravi and his wife visited the Kalighat Kali Temple to seek blessings for the well-being and progress of West Bengal. The political landscape of the state saw a major shift with the BJP assuming power and displacing the Trinamool Congress government.
