A 24-year-old brain-dead woman from Gandhinagar, Kajal Rathod, had her organs transported to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital for transplantation through a green corridor set up by police authorities. Declared brain dead at GMERS General Hospital, her family’s consent enabled the donation of her kidneys, pancreas, and liver to patients in need. The timely transportation was crucial due to the narrow window for organ transplantation.
Hospital authorities identified Kajal’s organs as viable for donation, potentially providing a new lease of life to recipients. The GMERS hospital administration sought a green corridor from Gandhinagar district police to ensure swift transport of the organs. Coordinated efforts by police stations in Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad facilitated the uninterrupted movement of the ambulance carrying the organs.
The ambulance, escorted by police, reached Ahmedabad Civil Hospital within the stipulated time, allowing the organs to be promptly delivered for transplantation procedures. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi expressed condolences to Kajal’s family and praised their decision to donate her organs, emphasizing the humanity and courage displayed. He also commended the medical staff and police forces for their coordination in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of the organs.
