Gujarat has given the green light to incentive assistance for 15 significant industrial projects, totaling Rs 1,567.18 crore, under the Incentive to Industries Scheme of the Industrial Policy-2015. These projects are anticipated to create about 1,238 direct job opportunities. The approval was granted during a committee meeting responsible for issuing Final Eligibility Certificates to large industrial units under the scheme, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister and Industries Minister Harsh Sanghavi.
The Incentive to Industries Scheme offers Net SGST-linked incentive support to eligible industries establishing operations in Gujarat, with the aim of fostering manufacturing activities, technological advancements, and substantial industrial investments in the state. Official data presented during the meeting revealed that the scheme has attracted cumulative investments of Rs 1,48,336.35 crore in Gujarat, leading to nearly 1,65,053 direct employments. Moreover, it has played a role in the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and the wider industrial environment in the state.
Among the recent approvals, the largest investment was seen in the chemical sector in Bharuch district, amounting to Rs 999.82 crore. Additionally, projects in the automobile sector worth Rs 75.72 crore in Ahmedabad district and Rs 44.56 crore in Surendranagar district were approved. Furthermore, a textile sector project valued at Rs 13 crore in Gandhinagar district also received incentive support. The meeting was attended by key officials including Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue Department Jayanti Ravi, Additional Chief Secretary of Finance Department T. Natarajan, and other prominent figures from various departments and organizations.
