Gujarat BJP leader Jagdish Vishwakarma has called on citizens in the state to actively participate in the upcoming local body elections, emphasizing the importance of voting in strengthening democracy. Vishwakarma highlighted that local self-government institutions are fundamental to democracy and encouraged citizens to engage enthusiastically in the electoral process.
He stressed the significance of civic responsibility, stating that every citizen’s vote plays a crucial role in enhancing democracy. Vishwakarma specifically urged youth, women, first-time voters, and all segments of society to ensure maximum turnout in the polls to uphold democratic values.
The elections, scheduled for April 26, will encompass various grassroots institutions, including municipal corporations, municipalities, district panchayats, and taluka panchayats across Gujarat. With approximately 9,992 seats up for grabs in urban and rural bodies, the voting process will cover numerous wards at different levels of local governance.
Gujarat’s Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also appealed to citizens to actively participate in the elections, aiming for a 100% voter turnout. Patel described voting as both a right and a sacred duty, encouraging people to view it as a celebration of democracy. He urged voters to visit polling stations, inspire others, and emphasized that each vote contributes to the progress of local communities.
