The Gujarat unit of the BJP is set to hold its state executive committee meeting on Monday at its headquarters in Gandhinagar. The meeting, scheduled for 4:30 P.M., will be led by state BJP president Jagdish Vishwakarma, with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and state general secretary (organisation) Ratnakarji in attendance. A whip has been issued to all party legislators to be present in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly for three days, starting March 23, for scheduled legislative business.
The proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC) legislation is expected to be a key topic during the Assembly session. The state government has received a report on the matter and is gearing up to advance the Bill for discussion. The UCC aims to establish a uniform set of civil laws governing marriage, divorce, inheritance, and adoption.
The state executive meeting coincides with increased political activities in Gujarat ahead of the upcoming local body elections, covering municipal corporations, municipalities, and panchayats. Rahul Gandhi, a senior Congress leader, is slated to address a tribal gathering in Vadodara on Monday. He is expected to arrive at the city airport at 2 P.M. before proceeding to the event venue.
In addition, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann are also planning visits to the state between March 24 and 27. Political parties, including the BJP, are making organizational arrangements, with a focus on reviewing electoral strategies and preparedness during the meeting. Discussions at the meeting are likely to encompass organizational issues, state-level priorities, and election readiness.
