Gujarat has officially certified a record-breaking 1,00,135 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), a significant achievement highlighted by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi in the state’s Legislative Assembly. This milestone, reached on February 19, underscores Gujarat’s strong commitment to industrial growth and entrepreneurship. Additionally, the state has been recognized as a “Best Performer” in national startup rankings for the fifth consecutive time, emphasizing its prowess in fostering enterprise development.
Sanghavi, speaking during the Assembly’s eighth session, emphasized the importance of the Governor’s address as a blueprint for Gujarat’s future progress. He also announced a 10-year recruitment plan to fill over two lakh government positions between 2024 and 2033, with 72,128 individuals already employed through recruitment fairs by December 2025.
In terms of welfare initiatives, Sanghavi mentioned the distribution of free food grains to 3.18 crore beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. He highlighted the One Nation One Ration Card scheme, enabling beneficiaries to access subsidized food grains nationwide. Moreover, Gujarat has provided over 10 lakh permanent houses, with plans to add 3.15 lakh more this year.
The health sector in Gujarat covers 2.72 crore citizens under the Ayushman Bharat–MA card scheme, offering cashless treatment up to Rs 10 lakh. Sanghavi also discussed the state’s agricultural progress, transitioning from a “tanker raj” to “Narmada raj.” Through initiatives like the Kisan Suryoday Yojana and PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, farmers receive benefits such as daytime electricity supply and direct fund transfers to 60 lakh farmers’ accounts.
Sanghavi criticized the Opposition’s protest-oriented politics, contrasting it with the government’s development-focused approach. He reiterated Gujarat’s commitment to inclusive growth with the motto “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.”
