With the goal of ensuring equal economic development in all districts and boosting Gujarat’s contribution to the national economy, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has instructed officials to focus on increasing district-wise GDP. This initiative aims to enhance the overall growth rate of the state, as highlighted by spokesperson minister Jitu Vaghani after a cabinet meeting in Gandhinagar.
Emphasizing Gujarat’s role in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of positioning India as the world’s third-largest economy and achieving the $5 trillion economy target, the Chief Minister outlined a new roadmap for achieving inclusive and balanced economic progress statewide. Patel stressed the need for tailored action plans to stimulate economic activity in districts with lower GDP contributions, ensuring their alignment with the state’s growth trajectory.
The Chief Minister’s directive includes identifying the unique strengths and opportunities of each district to drive sustainable growth through district-level planning, investment promotion, and sector-specific development. Gujarat’s significant contributions to India’s GDP and merchandise exports, particularly in manufacturing, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and engineering goods, underscore its pivotal role in the country’s economic landscape.
