Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has directed district administrations to promptly and fairly address citizens’ grievances during the ‘Swagat’ program. At the monthly State Swagat online hearing, over 110 complainants from various districts presented their issues. A total of 1,335 representations were reviewed at district-level Swagat sessions, with instructions given for necessary actions and follow-ups.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of maintaining administrative responsibility until each grievance is resolved, rather than just transferring files between departments. He emphasized the need for accountability at every stage until citizens’ concerns are fully addressed. Additionally, he urged officials to prevent inconvenience to citizens caused by departmental coordination issues.
Addressing challenges in online governance systems, the Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure that technical or procedural issues do not lead to delays or hardships for the public. He intervened in specific cases, such as one in Panchmahal district where an application for land sale permission faced repeated delays due to inter-departmental transfers.
In Bharuch district’s Jhagadia taluka, a farmer highlighted non-payment of compensation for land acquired under the Karjan reservoir project despite approval. The Chief Minister ordered prompt compensation within 10 days and demanded accountability for the delay. He also directed the police department to take strict action against individuals involved in financial fraud cases to deter future occurrences.
In Mehsana district, farmers raised concerns about discrepancies in land records post-resurvey. The Chief Minister instructed officials to verify and correct land records promptly after measurement. He emphasized the need for officials to ensure the final resolution of grievances with clear accountability rather than just shifting responsibilities between desks.
