Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister, Harsh Sanghavi, emphasized the importance of accurate census data for effective government service delivery and welfare schemes at the grassroots level. He encouraged citizens in Gujarat to engage in the Centre’s digital self-enumeration initiative for ‘Census 2027’. Sanghavi highlighted that the census information aids in policymaking, development planning, and equitable resource allocation by the government.
The ongoing ‘Census 2027’ initiative, a crucial national process led by the Central government, aims at comprehensive development and planning for the nation. Sanghavi stressed the significance of utilizing census data for various sectors such as health, education, housing, and employment to benefit citizens across all segments of society.
As part of the campaign launch in Surat, Sanghavi personally participated in the self-enumeration exercise by submitting his family’s details online. He urged all families in Gujarat to actively engage in the self-enumeration process, which allows households to provide necessary information digitally from the comfort of their homes. Sanghavi also reminded residents to be cautious about sharing confidential details during the census and clarified the process regarding OTP requirements.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also endorsed the initiative by completing his family’s details through the digital portal. The next phase involves door-to-door house listing operations scheduled from June 1 to June 30, emphasizing the collaborative effort towards a successful ‘Census 2027’ exercise.
