Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi commenced the establishment of a ‘Nari Sanrakshan Grih’ on Ghoddod Road in Surat, costing Rs 16 crore. This new shelter home, a G+2 structure, aims to house 101 women affected by violence and exploitation, offering them immediate protection and rehabilitation assistance. The existing Nari Sanrakshan Grih in Amboli currently shelters 24 women and a child who are survivors of various forms of abuse, awaiting relocation to the new facility upon completion.
Deputy CM Sanghavi also led a comprehensive review meeting regarding the Halpati Housing Scheme’s progress. Discussions centered on housing access, land rights, and inheritance issues for the Halpati and tribal communities in Surat. The meeting addressed challenges faced by eligible beneficiaries in receiving scheme benefits due to administrative or technical hurdles. To resolve pending applications promptly, a joint committee involving various authorities will be established to identify and eliminate bottlenecks.
Furthermore, the meeting scrutinized the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri SVAmitva Scheme in the district, emphasizing the swift issuance of land and property ownership documents to entitled recipients. Measures were outlined to expedite the issuance of property cards, rectify administrative discrepancies, and provide legal guidance to resolve long-standing inheritance matters.
