Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi emphasized the importance of consulting police officers before implementing preventive detention measures like PASA and “tadipar” to tackle anti-social elements. Speaking at a Revenue Department event, he highlighted the need for cohesive decision-making across departments in law and order issues. Sanghavi praised the Revenue Department’s transparency and teamwork in recent administrative and electoral activities.
Sanghavi urged district collectors to expand their roles beyond land administration and focus on overall district governance to benefit citizens directly. He suggested that officers adopt a citizen-centric approach for long-term public impact. The Deputy CM also called for promoting tourism and industrial growth, enhancing support for MSME units, and utilizing CSR funds for the development of backward regions.
In governance practices, Sanghavi stressed the importance of cleanliness standards in government offices and public facilities. He recommended a state-level mobile application for streamlined services and the sharing of best practices among districts. Sanghavi cited Bharuch, Banaskantha, and Gir Somnath as models of efficient administrative performance that could be replicated in other districts.
Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Jayanti Ravi highlighted the Revenue Department’s focus on citizen-centric, transparent, and technology-driven governance. Discussions at the event centered on simplifying land-related regulations, improving ease of doing business, and enhancing digital transformation in land records management. The department’s efforts aim to improve transparency, efficiency, and ethical standards in public administration.
