Gujarat’s Director General of Police, Dr. K.L.N. Rao, personally supervised a security check at the Legislative Assembly premises in response to a bomb threat received via email. The threat prompted the evacuation of legislators, staff, and visitors, causing a delay in the Budget session. Police took precautionary measures, including halting the session and conducting a thorough search of the complex.
DGP Rao, along with senior officers, ensured that security protocols were in place by inspecting all entrances of the Assembly. Specialized units, along with the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) teams, conducted a detailed search of the legislative complex. Fortunately, no explosive device or suspicious item was found, allowing the session to resume after security clearance.
Gandhinagar SP Ravi Teja Shetty confirmed that the bomb threat, received via email, was thoroughly investigated by the BDDS teams, concluding that there was no real danger. BJP MLA Dinesh Singh Kushwaha later revealed that the threat was deemed fake, leading to the resumption of normal activities at the Assembly premises.
The incident prompted calls for swift action against those responsible for such threats. AAP leaders emphasized the need for modern technology to identify and punish individuals behind such hoax threats. They urged the government to take stringent measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
