Gujarat Giants’ Sophie Devine made history by scoring 32 runs in a single over against Delhi Capitals in the Women’s Premier League. Devine’s explosive performance included two fours and four sixes off bowler Sneh Rana, leaving the opposition stunned.
This remarkable over became the most expensive ever in the history of the Women’s Premier League, surpassing the previous record of 28 runs conceded by Deepti Sharma. Interestingly, Deepti had also faced Sneh Rana in that match, where she was hit for three sixes and two fours, including a no-ball.
Sophie Devine’s exceptional batting saw her reach a half-century off just 25 balls, helping Gujarat Giants reach a commanding total of 80 runs without loss in the six-over Power-play. Devine’s aggressive approach, which included a flurry of boundaries and sixes, showcased her dominance in the game.
In another display of her prowess, Devine continued her onslaught by smashing three more sixes in an over off bowler N Shree Charani. Despite falling just five runs short of a century, Devine’s impactful innings of 95 off 47 balls left a lasting impression on the match. Her highest score in the Women’s Premier League remains 99 not out, achieved in a previous season.
