Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat has instructed the establishment of additional permanent natural agriculture sales centers in the state. He emphasized the need for five centers at the municipal corporation level, three at the district level, and one at the taluka level to be operational within a month to enhance the marketing network for natural farming produce.
During a video conference with district collectors, district development officers, and municipal commissioners, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani, and State Minister Ramesh Katara participated. The Governor stressed the importance of strengthening the sales and distribution system for naturally grown produce to support farmers transitioning to chemical-free agriculture.
Governor Devvrat highlighted the adverse effects of excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides on soil, water, and food. He emphasized the significance of natural farming not only as an agricultural practice but also for public health and disease prevention. Additionally, he underscored the moral responsibility of citizens and government systems to judiciously use natural resources.
Referring to energy conservation, the Governor mentioned that adjusting streetlight operations’ timing had resulted in over Rs 25 crore in electricity savings across Gujarat. He recommended turning off street lights 35 minutes before sunrise and switching them on 35 minutes after sunset to save energy.
