Gujarat has set a new record in renewable energy with over five lakh residential rooftop solar systems installed, totaling 1,879 MW and maintaining its top spot in the country for rooftop solar usage. This milestone, achieved through PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, showcases Gujarat’s commitment to clean energy and citizen-focused initiatives.
The state’s successful adoption of rooftop solar will be highlighted at the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) Kutch–Saurashtra in Rajkot starting January 10. Gujarat has surpassed 11 lakh rooftop solar installations through various programs, solidifying its position as a leader in India’s renewable energy sector.
Financial aid totaling Rs 3,778 crore has been provided to residential consumers, making rooftop solar systems more affordable and cutting household electricity expenses significantly. Gujarat’s government has introduced citizen-friendly policies, including subsidies and exemptions, to promote rooftop solar adoption across urban and rural areas.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel emphasized the state’s pivotal role in advancing renewable energy, attributing the success to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. Gujarat’s achievements in rooftop solar serve as a model for sustainable development, showcasing the benefits of clean and cost-effective energy solutions.
