The Gujarat Police has inaugurated a Public Relations Centre at Police Bhavan in Gandhinagar to streamline the handling of complaints and representations from citizens. This initiative, led by Director General of Police K. L. N. Rao, aims to enhance transparency, accountability, and public trust within the police system. The center will receive and coordinate complaints, applications, and public grievances from across the state, ensuring timely resolutions.

Rao personally inspected the facility and emphasized that the Public Relations Office serves as a vital link between citizens and the police administration. He highlighted its role in embodying the values of ‘Security, Service, and Trust’ of the Gujarat Police. The focus is on providing every individual, especially the common and underprivileged, with hope and satisfaction in seeking justice through this platform.

The new system eliminates the need for citizens to visit multiple offices by centralizing all complaints through a single point of contact. Upon registration at the reception desk, visitors are guided through a structured process in a comfortable environment to present their concerns. Senior officers engage with applicants directly, listen to their grievances, and document the necessary details for further action.

Complaints and representations received at the center are formally logged and forwarded to the relevant district or city police units for appropriate handling. Field units are mandated to provide timely reports, which are then reviewed by senior officers for decision-making. Additionally, the center implements a two-tier feedback mechanism to assess service quality and keep applicants informed about the progress of their cases.

Since its launch in February, the Public Relations Centre has efficiently resolved a significant number of complaints, demonstrating its effectiveness in addressing citizen grievances promptly. Noteworthy success stories include the swift resolution of cases like that of Jigarbhai Bhatt from Bhavnagar, showcasing the positive impact of the initiative in providing assistance to those in need. The initiative not only focuses on complaint resolution but also aims to foster better communication and trust between citizens and law enforcement agencies.
