Thousands of people from various sectors, including civil servants, paramilitary forces, soldiers, and schoolchildren, took part in the International Day of Yoga in Jammu and Kashmir. In Srinagar, Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha led a group of Yoga enthusiasts at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre on the banks of the Dal Lake. The event aimed to promote the significance of Yoga in achieving overall well-being.
The mega event at SKICC was coordinated by the Directorate of AYUSH, J&K, along with Health and line departments. J&K Minister of Health & Education, Sakeena Itoo, encouraged people of all ages and genders to incorporate Yoga into their daily routines for physical, mental, and emotional health benefits. Across all 20 districts of J&K, numerous Yoga events were held in schools, colleges, and other institutions.
The Border Security Force (BSF) organized a Yoga Session at the Shaheed Veer Dev Stadium in Jammu under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” BSF personnel actively participated, emphasizing the importance of Yoga in enhancing physical fitness, mental resilience, and stress management. Similarly, the CRPF personnel in Kashmir observed the International Day of Yoga with mass practice and wellness sessions, focusing on physical fitness and mental well-being.
Public parks, school grounds, and open spaces in Jammu and Srinagar witnessed civilians, including elders and children, engaging in Yoga sessions. Participants expressed enthusiasm, with elders noting improved freshness, health, and mental alertness due to regular Yoga practice, which addresses both physical and mental aspects.
