India captain Harmanpreet Kaur expressed joy over the transformation in visibility and recognition of women’s cricket following their victory in the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup. The win at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai significantly boosted the profile of women’s cricket in India, garnering praise for Harmanpreet and her team.
Harmanpreet shared her excitement, stating that winning a World Cup was bound to bring about change. She highlighted the honor of having a section at the Omaxe State Stadium in Dwarka named after her, aiming to attract more female spectators to matches, especially with the introduction of the country’s first dedicated ‘Pink Stand’.
Emphasizing the importance of infrastructure for women’s cricket, Harmanpreet stressed the need for stadiums, residential academies, and training facilities to support aspiring female cricketers. She commended initiatives like the Omaxe stadium project for creating a conducive environment for young players to train and excel at all levels of the game.
India’s recent success in ICC events has been lauded, with Harmanpreet acknowledging the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for their investment across formats.
