Harmanpreet Kaur’s unbeaten 82 runs were not enough as Gujarat Giants defeated Mumbai Indians by 11 runs to secure a spot in the 2026 WPL playoffs. Gujarat Giants posted 167/4 with Ashleigh Gardner scoring 46 and Georgia Wareham contributing an unbeaten 44, setting a defendable target for Mumbai Indians. Despite Harmanpreet’s valiant effort, Mumbai Indians fell short in their chase.

Harmanpreet Kaur played a lone battle with a composed 82 not out off 48 balls, including eight fours and four sixes, against Gujarat Giants. However, wickets fell at the other end, leading to Mumbai Indians’ defeat. Sophie Devine and Georgia took two wickets each for Gujarat Giants, who ended their losing streak against Mumbai Indians with this crucial win.

In a tense finish, Gujarat Giants held their nerve as Ashleigh Gardner defended 26 runs in the final over, despite Harmanpreet hitting her for two sixes. With the victory, Gujarat Giants celebrated by acknowledging their home crowd. Harmanpreet’s efforts, including her 11th WPL fifty and sixth against Gujarat Giants, were not enough to secure a win for Mumbai Indians.

The match saw Hayley Matthews and Sajeevan Sajana making quick contributions for Mumbai Indians, but Gujarat Giants’ bowlers managed to make crucial breakthroughs. Harmanpreet’s resilience in the chase, supported briefly by others like Amelia Kerr, kept Mumbai Indians in the game. However, Gujarat Giants’ strong bowling attack, led by Georgia and Rajeshwari Gayakwad, ultimately sealed the win for them.
