Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini celebrated his birthday by taking a significant step towards fulfilling his commitment to serving cows. He distributed Rs 1.22 crore as fodder grants to 14 ‘gaushalas’ in Panchkula district at an event in Mata Mansa Devi Gaudham. Additionally, he pledged Rs 20 lakh for the renovation of the road leading to an ancient Shiva temple on Saketari hill.
Accompanied by his wife Suman Saini, CM Saini fed cows at Mata Mansa Devi Gaudham, offering them fodder and jaggery while seeking their blessings. He also conducted cow worship during the event, highlighting the revered status of cows in Indian culture. Emphasizing the importance of ‘gaushalas’ in religious and social contexts, he mentioned the government’s efforts towards cow protection and natural farming development.
Underlining the government’s commitment to cow welfare, CM Saini mentioned that registered ‘gaushalas’ have received Rs 270 crore for fodder in the past 11 years. He noted a significant increase in the budget allocation for cow welfare, from Rs 2 crore in 2014-15 to Rs 595 crore in the current financial year. The state of Haryana now boasts 686 registered cow shelters, caring for around four lakh cows, with plans to equip all shelters with solar power plants soon.
