In a significant move to enhance evidence-based policy-making in Haryana, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini unveiled the Sonipat Human Development Report 2026. This report, crafted by the Jindal Institute of Haryana Studies at O.P. Jindal Global University, marks a crucial step in advancing district-level development planning.
CM Saini commended the Jindal Institute of Haryana Studies for their work and emphasized the importance of Higher Education, Research, Policy-making, and Good Governance in driving Haryana’s development towards the Viksit Bharat @2047 goal. The District HDRs initiative by JIHS aims to provide detailed insights through data-driven analysis, addressing the lack of systematic district-level assessments in Haryana.
The report focuses on capturing the real-life situations of Haryana’s residents through detailed analysis. It aims to offer nuanced insights for targeted policy interventions across the state, especially considering the current environmental challenges faced by Haryana, including air pollution issues in the Delhi-NCR region.
Congratulating the initiative, Naveen Jindal, Chancellor of O.P. Jindal Global University, highlighted the collaborative effort between universities, government bodies, and civil society in shaping evidence-based public policies. The District HDRs project plans to not only create Human Development Reports for all Haryana districts but also update them periodically to enable tracking progress and adapting development strategies.
