Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi led a meeting in Chandigarh to discuss establishing a kinnow juice processing plant in Sirsa through Public-Private Partnership (PPP). The project, part of the state Budget, will be located at the Vita Milk Plant premises with an investment of Rs 26.39 crore.
The initiative aims to boost the state’s fruit economy and elevate the earnings of kinnow farmers. The plant, operating under a 33-year concession period, will focus on fruit and vegetable processing, particularly kinnow juice, benefiting various stakeholders.
Haryana Dairy will allocate land for the plant, while the private partner will handle installation, infrastructure, and operations. The facility plans to process 9,000 metric tonnes of kinnow and 12,600 metric tonnes of other fruits annually, producing premium packaged juice.
The project will also enhance farmers’ income by utilizing 25% of lower-grade kinnow for value-added processing. This farmer-centric approach involves sourcing raw materials directly from Haryana farmers. Chief Secretary Rastogi highlighted the collaboration’s significance in creating sustainable rural income.
